Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign clear orthodontic aligners straighten teeth without metal or wires. They're a great orthodontic treatment option for anyone who has concerns about the aesthetics and general upkeep that come with braces.
In terms of aesthetics, Invisalign's clear plastic construction means that they're very low profile – bordering on invisible – when worn. And when it comes to upkeep, the aligners are removable, allowing patients to brush and floss as usual, and also clean the aligners themselves easily.
Additionally, many patients find Invisalign generally comfortable to wear, since the smoothness of the plastic tends to preclude much of the friction that braces can cause.
We can also offer different types of braces, depending on your needs and aesthetic concerns.
Orthodontic treatment with braces is probably the most common method of straightening teeth worldwide. Braces are made up of wires and brackets that are fixed to the teeth. These wires and brackets gradually shift the teeth into their prescribed straighter positions via gentle, constant pressure.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
These pauses in breathing can happen as a result of a narrow and/or partially blocked airway. Often, these issues can be exacerbated by narrow or receded jaws. In these cases, orthodontic treatment can help resolve sleep apnea.
Our SW Calgary orthodontists can help correct misaligned teeth and jaws, and they can also recommend custom-fitted appliances that can make breathing easier during sleep.
If you or your child suffers from disrupted sleep, an assessment for sleep apnea may be a good idea.
When the jaw becomes misaligned, it can result in jaw discomfort or pain, joint locking or restricted movement, headaches, neck pain, teeth grinding, and a variety of clicking and popping noises when the jaw opens and closes.
All of these issues can cause significant disruptions to your day-to-day life, affecting your mood, your ability to eat and speak, and even your sleep.
If you suffer from TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder), our SW Calgary orthodontists can help, with treatments ranging from straightforward bite adjustments to corrective bite surgery.
